Subway Hero

Jan.4, 2007 - Autrey: I'm Not a Hero (1010 Wins - USA)
Subway hero Story (Seattle Times - USA)
Jan.4, 2007 - Subway Hero Story #2 (BostonChannel - USA)

[Replaced the original link, which is no longer valid, with these three, which say the "same thing", but maybe slightly different wording.]

My blog posts are becoming less frequent as I refocus on the website, but there is one story I just had to write about. It comes from New York City, USA.

Excerpted from the (original) article....

Mayor Michael Bloomberg bestowed the title upon Wesley Autrey as he presented him with the city's highest award for civic achievement, calling the 50-year-old construction worker "a great man, a man who makes us all PROUD to be New Yorkers."

later on in the article...

Autrey, who did the morning news show circuit on Thursday and taped a David Letterman appearance later in the day, will be flown to Los Angeles for an appearance next week on Ellen DeGeneres' show.

As for his new celebrity, he concluded, "good things happen when you do good."

------

Without me actually being there or knowing anyone or anything else beyond a few articles - here is a good example of how being good vs pride works. Bloomberg (People who name companies after themselves...hmmm...) talks about pride and tries to bask in the goodness of Autrey. He associates New York, which he is an integral part of as the mayor, with Autrey. Thus Bloomberg is good too by default.

Autrey just says - good things happen when you do good.

Not always unfortunately in our sick world. But I'll say - Good people do good things.

And that is the simple 'philosophy' with which the next age will work. Easy as PI. The only confusion over time has been - what is good. And there's only one answer in my book - and I think you already know the answer too.

A video for the New Year

I hope you all had a Happy New Year. ......actually that's a lie, because I don't hope. (I think I need to explain this more too perhaps) But, it sounds so natural....as if I'd been CONditioned to it......Never mind.... 8-)

Anyhoo...I just thought I would recommend a DVD that I had heard about, but never got the chance to watch until yesterday. It's National Geographic: Gospel of Judas.
It just aired recently on History Channel I know, but I saw the entire DVD with extended interviews.

I recommend this because it gives quite a bit of insight into the Gnostic view of Christianity. A view that was stamped out by early church founders. Stamped out...because Gnostics - didn't need a church. (Never heard of the Gnostics...don't the prideful and arrogant victors write the history books?) The Gnostic view of the world is much closer to what I am talking about than what the vast vast vast majority of Christians have been CONditioned to beLIEve. Sure....the church leaders speak the truth, like the head of this Megachurch in Colorado, USA. (Just one in a long line)

Anyhoo...I don't want to be CONfrontational on this. That will go nowhere. People seek to KNOW more, or they don't. I got my video at the library - free. I have a summary of notes about the video that I'll post later. It was the cover story of the US edition in the middle of 2006, and presumably in other countries. Funny...how (The video) it just appeared recently......being a documentary there is alot of science and historical discussion, but they have some silly recreations of the scene described in the book. Silly because.....well that lie I was talking about before comes up again. So you can burn this video too when you're done. Or I guess if you just check it out from a library, you're ok.

Video aside....

and photos from my recent trip:

1) Regular photo slideshow - maybe 300 photos. Trying to work it down.

2) A special LION tour. Photos of lions from Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Russia,
Italy, Vatican, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Egypt, Israel...shit...that's almost every country I went to. That leaves out Lithuania, Croatia, Bosnia, and Czechia....and maybe that's just because I can't remember if I took any photos of lions in those latter four. I know I saw lions in Czechia....it's on all the money!!

You get all this for the low price of ZILCH! No CONtributions! You know that saying - you can't buy your way to Heaven.

I won't sell your email, because, I don't need your email!

Oh yeah...the Detroit Lions, they finished with the 2nd worst record in the US National Football League (NFL), and last place in their conference. 3-13. Not good to be a LION now. The worst team was the Oakland Raiders at 2-14. Maybe they caught some bug from the Detroit Tigers who blew into town earlier and wiped out the Oakland Athletics in the playoffs. But who knows...maybe the LIONs will have a last gasp.

Oh yeah #2 - Wait till I tell you about the premier international industry award that is given out to the best Advertisements (by Marketers, et al..) every year. Maybe you can already guess....

Going head first into 2007 - Bonzai!
