Hope

Hope: It Could Happen To You

Hope

Result

I hope our (sports) team is going to win!

They lose.

I hope (s)he loves me.

You suffer from DEbilitating jealousy.

I hope we will win this battle.

 You lose the battle.

I hope our product will succeed

 It fails.

I hope the new president is good

President turns out to be corrupt as the others.

I hope my stock goes up tomorrow.

Your stock plummets.

I hope (s)he doesn't use drugs anymore.

They relapse over and over.

I hope my job is safe.

You get fired.

I hope that's the answer.

You are wrong.

I hope this diet plan will work.
I am really fat

It doesn't, or it works then you gain all the weight back.
Like a roller-coaster.

I hope this investment will pay off.

You lose money.

I hope he / she calls me back!

They do not. You are crushed inside.

I hope Santa Claus brings me a lot of
toys this year.

You are disappointed because your hope exceeded reality.

Now you might say  --- "This is overly pessimistic. I can think of many instances where hope won out."
But the fact is that HOPE IS very unreliable...

I HOPE we don´t go to war.

I HOPE global warming gets better.

I HOPE I win the lottery.

Unverbalized Hope

You don't have to actually say the word hope, to hope. It can be a state of mind.

Hope prevents YOU from taking action.  -   Hope prevents US from taking action.

Hollywood Glamorization

Hollywood glamorizes hope. Like the movie Shawshank Redemption - at the end especially.

Shawshank Redemption: Hope --- More specific video clip -"Hope is a Good Thing"

Wayne's note: This used to be a favorite movie of mine, but I saw it again by accident and paid more close attention.
Get busy living, or get busy dying - I used to repeat this every now and again.
The irony was that we all die anyway. But, now WE have new phrase --

Get busy BEing, or stay busy dying!

What business are you involved in? What busy-ness are you involved in?

Metaphor - Movie - Trailer -Paycheck

"To understand how something works, you must first take it apart and unravel its secrets.
Only then can you build something better."
(How about your mind and how you think!)

Paycheck is a clever movie too, but it also glamorizes hope at the end. There are thousands of films that do the same.
Maybe that is why it's called the CINema.  (Say...what do you KNOW about the lives of the people who write these screenplays?)

In other words, if Hollywood did a movie for every jail/prison inmate that hoped to get out, but never did....
well there would be a lot more of those to tell.

Weak Hope

There is a fine line between many emotions. One form of hope is the kind where it does not lead to worry, but we say it out of habit.
When in fact, you do not care what happens.

This is an example of hope for a guy with low sense of self.

Moving between states of HOPE and HOPELESSNESS. Another choice - no hope at all.

Just BE.

esperanza --> ES-PERe -> is FEAR
hOPE - O-PE --> I FE --> I Faith

Word DNA: P ~ F are equivalent sounds. The shape of the letters is similar too. Silent H rule.

Hope is uncertain. That is why it is related to faith. When we hope for something to happen - we have a certain
level of fear about future events. It may be a very low level of fear, or one that causes visible stress.
