Have they marched in triumph to your city?

The concept of "cow parade" has its origins in Zürich, Switzerland, in 1998[1] by artistic director Walter Knapp, it is based on an idea which was realised in the same city for the first time in 1986: Lions as the symbol of Zurich were painted and then on display throughout the city. -- 200 I read somewhere else!

In 1792 more than 700 Swiss guards died while they defended the palace at Tuileries of King Louis XIV and Marie-Antoinette. The Lion Monument is a stone sculpture in honour of the Swiss Guards who were massacared in this battle The sculpture was carved out of a sandstone cliff face near Lucerne's Glacier Gardens in 1821. If you really look at the lions expression that has been carved you can see the sadness of what happened.
