The taxi dropped me off here. Near the top of the Pyramid of the Sun.
There were no signs and nobody was around. So I just had to go look around on my own!
I saw these stones layed out with some markings. I guess I was on the right trail.
I started to walk down this trail. Very slippery in spots!
Some brush that was cleared away.
Not sure if this was supposed to be anything.
I made it down most of the mountain and came upon an active work area.
The volunteers advised me to go up. Never did make it, too slippery for my beaten down sandals.
A vista of the town of Visoko.
Active work area and some of the volunteers.
Natural forming, or something else.
Another pyramid was off in the distance in this area.
Not satisfied yet, I headed toward the other pyramid.
Small bridge to cross.
No guidebooks for the Bosnian Countryside!
Saw a lot of these. Big hay type blobs.
Glacing back I saw many crosses in a cemetary. A common sight in Sarajevo. A bit much I thought.
A local villager pointed out the right way.
Glancing back from the Pyramid of the Moon site
Pyramid of the Moon
Natural or man made?
Walking around the base before I headed up.
Iīm no rock expert, but some of the dug up parts appeared to be man made. I DO NOT KNOW.
Making my way up.
Impressive looking.
Only a couple photos of me in Visoko. Here is one, but the stone slabs.
Met some Bosnian-Americans exploring the site. Those slabs donīt look natural.
If this is a hoax, somebody went to alot of effort.
Relative scale.
Thatīs my shoe. My sandal failed me soon after, due to the stress on the straps.
Scenic valley from higher up the Pyramid of the Moon
Does nature make such clean cuts?
I let the others move on and took some self-portraits.
Wasnīt sure what to think of this site. It made me wonder about previous eras in the Mayan Calendar perhaps.
Lots of the hay blobs.
A closeup of a cemetary of crosses.
A couple of other visitors talk to one of the volunteers.
Cutting into the hillside - Pyramid of the Moon
I returned to Sarajevo to catch my bus back to Croatia.
Huge apartment blocks.
Scenery on bus ride back to Croatia
Legacy of the last war.
Fascinating to view, even from just my bus window. I did not explore Mostar on foot, other than standing around the bus terminal.
