In the media, in some countries, becoming a parent is made out to be this life changing event with no parallel ever in the history of the universe. I got news for those people. There are 6.5 billion people on this planet. And countless others in the past. Being a parent is important, very important, but not quite as important as some people would make it out to be. Have you seen animals give birth? Have you ever seen how tiny and fragile they are when born? They don't have it easy either. I don't get the sense that they complain too much about it. Many parents in "3rd world" countries don't complain nearly as much as "1st world" parents. Whiners - fueled by the "baby/child" industry. This I have observed. Anyways - this pride is the feeling a father and/or mother gets just for having a child and providing basic care - no more or less. Of interesting note - is that if parents used correct techniques, parenting would be easier. But many in the modern world have been deceived by so called experts. Read the book - Our Babies, Ourselves below to verify what I say. Look up Ethnopediatrics. Or forget about reading - just look at our fucking world!! If all parents are so good - why is the world so fucked up? Why are there so many wars? Disconnect between people thinking they are GOOD parents, and actually BEing GOOD parents. |
