Almost back in business
I am finally back in Colombia. Happy to be finished with the travel of the most recent 6 to 7 weeks. Earlier, I mentioned some computer laptop troubles. I have been finally able to test the hard-drive, and it seems to work properly. No data loss, but I still need a new laptop, and now mobile phone too - my 6 year old phone crapped out in Brazil for no apparent reason. Working one moment, dead a few hours later.
I should have a new laptop (Alot faster!!) in a few days to a couple of weeks. Then I can get going on updating the site again. The laptop I was using was a 2001 IBM Thinkpad model.
I finished this most recent trip with a bang. I shared my story and website with travelers from Ireland, Turkey, England, Korean-Argentinian, and a group from Israel, as well as a couple of young women who worked at the hostel in Lima, Peru. It was also helpful because for a few of those people I was able to show them the website. I also managed to share the story with two Colombians, one who I just started talking to at the Bogota airport, another sitting next to me on a flight. The latter, I spoke mostly in Spanish. Now...just need someone to translate the website and create a Spanish version....and Portuguese and....
Travails of Travel
------------------
I didn´t get a chance to make it to the Nasca Lines or Caral (Mentioned in last post), but I did buy an excellent CD-ROM of the Nazca Lines, and English book and BBC Video of Caral (You can download an English language broadcast of - LOST PYRAMIDS OF CARAL from 2001 off BitTorrent. I have never used BitTorrent, but the more savvy may wish to look into this. I may do it, as my DVD is Spanish only) A couple more reasons to return to Peru. I´ve said it before, and I´ll say it again, Peru is a treasure trove of archaelogy and natural beauty. Fortunately, I live in a bordering NATION.
Will incorporate this research, after I finish reading and watching them.
Book of Revelation
------------------
On a random note, I had a chance to read through some parts of the Bible Book of Revelation in Spanish and it notes the color of the 4th Horse is AMARILLO / YELLOW. As opposed to PALE written in the English one (The version I checked anyway). So now, 3 colors are an exact match. And of course, the all important 4th COLOR (ME) is an exact match. The 2nd horse color, I read a word -- BERMEJO. Not sure what this means yet. Dictionary checks and asking Spanish speakers hasn´t seemed to find a meaning for this. No mention of ROJO or MARRON which is Red and Brown respectively. Maybe I will look online later.
Word Usage
------------
A quick update, which I will incorporate, but if you have read the NEVER BELIEVE section, the way BELIEVE or NOT BELIEVE is used seems to be the same or quite similar in Polish, Korean, Japan, Turkish, Hebrew, and English/Spanish/French/Portuguese.
Until next time
---------------
Keep watching the news...the missile shield debate seems interesting, as well as the recent missile launch by North Korea. Turkey plans to go into Iraq are also notable. Sri Lanka still getting worse. Iran isn´t stopping its ¨march of progress.¨
As I have told many travelers recently --Good Luck, you´ll need it more than me. The less pride you got, the less you need luck though.
