Subway hero Story (Seattle Times - USA)

[Replaced the original link, which is no longer valid, with these three, which say the "same thing", but maybe slightly different wording.]
My blog posts are becoming less frequent as I refocus on the website, but there is one story I just had to write about. It comes from New York City, USA.
Excerpted from the (original) article....
Mayor Michael Bloomberg bestowed the title upon Wesley Autrey as he presented him with the city's highest award for civic achievement, calling the 50-year-old construction worker "a great man, a man who makes us all PROUD to be New Yorkers."
later on in the article...
Autrey, who did the morning news show circuit on Thursday and taped a David Letterman appearance later in the day, will be flown to Los Angeles for an appearance next week on Ellen DeGeneres' show.
Without me actually being there or knowing anyone or anything else beyond a few articles - here is a good example of how being good vs pride works. Bloomberg (People who name companies after themselves...hmmm...) talks about pride and tries to bask in the goodness of Autrey. He associates New York, which he is an integral part of as the mayor, with Autrey. Thus Bloomberg is good too by default.
Autrey just says - good things happen when you do good.
Not always unfortunately in our sick world. But I'll say - Good people do good things.
And that is the simple 'philosophy' with which the next age will work. Easy as PI. The only confusion over time has been - what is good. And there's only one answer in my book - and I think you already know the answer too.

As for his new celebrity, he concluded, "good things happen when you do good."
